August -- Bantay Church Belfry Built during the Spanish era, the Bantay Church's archetectural design features baroque and gothic influences. Its belfry atop a nearby hill was also used as a lookout for approaching enemies. Today its massive bells still toll on Sundays and special holidays and fiestas. The town of Bantay, Ilocos Sur, sits just outside Vigan, the province's capital city. | |
